Carnevale is a big holiday in Italy and celebrated in every region with special events and parades, lots of specialty foods and extravagant costumes and masks. Venice is especially famous for its Carnevale that dates back to 1296 when it was made officially a public holiday by the Senate of the Republic of Venice.
More details about the event and information about Carnevale in Italy will be forth coming. We are planning a lot of fun things, and we hope to see you all at this special event.
Remember: “A carnevale, ogni scherzo vale!”

Donate to Disaster Relief Efforts in Venice
The city of Venice is in a state of emergency following the worst flooding in over 50 years. “Venice is on its knees,” said Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro who estimated that the flooding has done hundreds of millions of dollars in damage.
The Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF) has set up a Venice Flood Relief Fund. All donations to this fund are tax-deductible. The SIF will be working directly with the Embassy of Italy to direct funds to emergency relief, recovery, and/or rebuilding as requested by the Italian Government.
Please help our brothers and sisters in Italy at this critical time. On behalf of those that need our help, we THANK YOU for helping the SIF represent Italian heritage in the most positive way!

Several DaVinci members participated at the Hearn Academy annual cultural event. Our display table contained a map of Italy, the Italian flag, pottery pieces, books, apron and kitchen towels unique to Sicily, a tri-fold poster board filled with postcards highlighting various Italian cities, pictures of typical foods, and included on the board were every day phrases. The children enjoyed the diversion of the day and the teachers were very welcoming and accommodating. It was great opportunity to share our love of Italy with the children.
